Our Mission

The Saltaire Events Organization, Inc. (“SEO”) is a non-profit organization dedicated to organizing and raising funds for the Incorporated Village of Saltaire, for the annual Fireworks display and related community events.

Saltaire is a community where everyone knows its neighbors and a place to enjoy nature on one’s own terms. We are a barefoot community in a national park where bicycles are the norm and vehicles the exception. It is a community like nowhere else enjoyed by young and old, regardless of gender or ethnicity.

Over our hundred years we have battled forces of Nature with the Hurricane of 1938 and Super Storm Sandy being the major offenders. Hurricane Sandy on October 29-30, 2012, severely affected the Village. The Village Board, first responders and community residents came together to rebuild our community. In the aftermath many Saltaire residents felt it was important to establish an annual tradition of a fireworks display in order to honor our Village leadership, its residents and to lift our community’s spirit. This annual event is all about connecting residents and families outside to celebrate community.

While fiscal challenges had forced the Village of Saltaire to eliminate funding for the fireworks, a group of individuals formed the “SEO” as a non-profit organization and obtained federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in order to collect private donations and fund the annual fireworks display.

SEO is run entirely by unpaid volunteers who dedicate their time and resources, and 100% of the funding for the fireworks is raised through private donations from individuals and businesses in the community. The Village of Saltaire provides public safety officers and emergency services for the event.
